Area Code Lookup

Which country is this calling code?

Paste a country code or a full international number. Works with +45, 0045, 45, (+45) or something like +45 32 12 34 56. Everything runs in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How the reverse lookup works

International calling codes are defined by ITU-T Recommendation E.164 and are between one and three digits long. Because the prefix length varies, the tool tests the digits you type against the longest codes first: +1 284 resolves to the British Virgin Islands rather than to the United States, and +44 resolves to the United Kingdom rather than to any shorter prefix.

The dialing forms below all mean the same thing. The plus sign is the international access symbol and replaces whatever exit code your own country uses — 011 in the US and Canada, 00 almost everywhere else, 0011 in Australia, 010 in Japan.

What you typeWhat it means
+45 32 12 34 56International format — dialable from any mobile in the world
0045 32 12 34 56Same number written with the exit code used in most of Europe and Asia
011 45 32 12 34 56Same number as dialed from the United States or Canada
45 32 12 34 56Country code without a prefix — works on a mobile that adds + automatically

What this tool does not do

It identifies the country a number belongs to. It cannot identify the person, the operator or the exact street address, and it is not a caller-ID or spam-detection service — those need carrier data, not the public numbering plan. For US numbers it can tell you which state and cities the area code covers.
